Alternative assignments are meant as a last resort. These should only be considered when all other options have failed. Students will be limited in how many alternative assignments they are allowed to complete for a grade.
Also, keep in mind that alternative assignments may be more difficult than classwork, and require you to work alone.
These assignments exist in three loosely defined categories:
Written Work (click on the text for a google form)
Performance Work
MONOLOGUE: Write or memorize a 1-minute monologue and perform on camera. Record in landscape, NOT PORTRAIT! Less than 4 feet from camera in a quiet room with good lighting.
**RENAME THE VIDEO WITH YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME. That way I know who gets credit.

PHOTO OP: Set up and take 3 photos for possible yearbook submission. Photos must be close up "action" photos utilizing theatre students who are working, either in rehearsal or focusing on tech assignments like makeup, painting, building, hanging lights, etc.

FURNITURE: DO NOT STEAL ANYTHING! Locate a discarded piece of furniture and bring it to the school. Side tables, coffee tables, dressers, couches, wooden chairs, etc. Ask permission before taking anything. Items will NOT be returned. Apartment complexes are great for this. Search near dumpsters or next to the road in front of peoples' houses.
PAINT: Donate TWO CANS of paint to the theatre department. This can be done for free. Ask your adults if they have any paint they don't want anymore. Nearly full cans of paint are preferred. Home Depot and Lowe's occasionally get rid of returned specialty paint for free if you come pick it up.
CLOTHING: If you know someone with very old clothing (the kind you can't buy in stores anymore), then we may want to take a look. Bring in any amount of old classic outfits, hats, belts, and shoes.
ANTIQUES: Old technology is hard to find. We like to have old phones, typewriters, computers, and other household items that no one uses anymore.
